the playstation brand is why it's beating the 360 sales wise. after selling 200mil consoles, the brand does carry some strength.
perceived value and all that is just surmise.
anyway. it's not the lack first party games. it's a number of factors...including price and icreased competition from microsoft and nintendo.
imo, the ps2 was the last really dominant sony console. from now on, nintendo and microsoft will be putting up a stiffer challenge.

going by what i read on here, i thought that around 70% of the posters in some comments are industry veterans. they all seem to know what can be done on the ps3 and what cant be done on the 360.

the ps3 version of lost planet was a poor mans version, and WORSE than the 360s game. if anything, given the noteriety of coding for the ps3. capcom will release the 360 version, and use the time to actually finish the ps3 version!
it may be slightly better, but going by capcoms history, i wouldn't count on it...and that goes out to the people who've agreed with ...
mgs will spike sales, not accelerate them! within a month things will settle back down again sales wise.
resi will help microsoft a hell of a lot if it comes out for xmas, coupled with gears of war, that will help counter resistance2 and hmmmm lbp...which i doubt alone would shift that many consoles. i think socom will shift 10x more than lbp!
in devil may cry and lost planet. with the popularity of a resi game, and a nice little pay-off from microsoft, they could make a killing! this could be another coup for microsoft.

microsoft have already invested heavily in gears and have confirmed the trilogy. they are publishers also! i dont think the series is ever gonna be seen on a sony console.
personally, i think that no3 will be one of the launch titles for the next xbox. together with something from bungie. after the reasonably underwhelming launch line up of the 360. i think microsoft will want to fire a massive salvo when they launch some new hardware in 2010/11. and seeing how many xboxs the last gears shifted, and how much software got sold...gears3 as a launch title could be a good move.
i think the 360 pad tops the dualshock for everything, except for playing pro evolution soccer! for me, that's when the dualshock is the bettep pad!
apart from that, i wouldn't want any other pad over the 360s.
and i've used a few over the years. just a shame the d-pad isn't of the same quality as the rest of the pad. i just hope microsoft do a sony, and use this pad now for every generation of xbox....imo it's gonna take some beating the 360 pad.
